Everyday Carry (EDC) – Max Greiner & Magdalena Meißner
What’s in your bag? Define 10 things you can’t live without! What are your daily essentials, your everyday carry? We are surrounded by products that determine our actions, give us room to manoeuvre and shape our personality in order to “survive” in today's society. Our needs are co-determined by professional design. Products unconsciously become cyborg-like extensions of the body, we carry around new limbs and organs, we literally attach them to ourselves.
We want to make individual product-related dependencies visible and tangible by offering an object as an intervention, as an interactive engagement. EDC offers users the option to reflect on their own dependencies by providing a placeholder and empowers humans to regain their creativity and freedom surrendered for comfort. Like a prosthesis, it prevents phantom pain that can be triggered by a missing product and at the same time invites explorative abstinence.
