Digit - Arman von Heyden, Louis Steinhauser
DIGIT is an open-source finger prosthesis that can be manufactured and customized at low cost. It is stable, lightweight and developed in such a way that it can be easily replicated.
It allows users to customize their prosthesis according to their wishes and functional requirements.
This can be done either by making it themselves at home or in maker spaces and open workshops. The aim of
DIGIT is to make prosthetic hand care more accessible for people worldwide and to see the prosthesis not just as a finger replacement, but also as an opportunity for new functionality.
Users can access construction plans and network with the community via the associated website and established open source platforms. A forum also offers the opportunity to exchange ideas with experienced prosthetists and place orders for the production of the prosthesis. Through the active participation of the community, existing designs are continuously developed and new ideas and add-ons are added.
