From Tech to Purpose
As designers, we are often confronted with commissions that require explorative engagement with "new" technologies. In this project, we simulate this setting by choosing the technical possibilities of the digital workshop as our starting point. We experiment with the various CNC machines, challenge the limits of what is possible and learn how to work with software and hardware. The aim of the project is to develop concrete applications from the technological experiments and transform them into useful products, systems and services. Thinking and acting independently as designers is central to this. We do not want to become technerds*, but rather learn to act as designers in complex digital technology tasks in a critical, reflective, actionable and results-oriented manner.
