Mechanical Craft
Valena Ammon
The project Mechanical Craft contains six vessels, that are made by code, 3d-clay-printing and the human hand. Those printed vessels raise questions about their emergence. On closer inspection the observer can see the non-planar printed structure and a texture that only the machine can make in that way. The project has the aim to inspire people to think more about the physical objects around us and their fabrication. In addition it raises the question if machine-made objects can be perceived as crafted and therefore receive the same cultural praise as handcrafted goods do.
