printing in mid air – An Experimental Approach to Defaults in 3D Printing
Wayra Aguilar
Through an experimental exploration of 3D printing, the following project resulted: "printing in mid air – an experimental approach to defaults in 3D printing" deals with how to manipulate and individually control the print settings in 3D printing and therefore make use of actual errors and consciously influence them. I analyzed the phenomenon of stringing and worked out print settings with which I can print plastic strings that span between a grid body. This combination of material and structure gave the resulting objects properties such as flexibility, translucency, lightness and a new aesthetic appeal.
The knowledge gained is collected on an accompanying documentation website and in this way can be processed by interested users and the collected Gcodes and Grasshopper scripts can be reproduced.
