Robo Lab Residency 1+2
In the future, robotic systems will play a key role in various industrial and industrial and social areas. AI systems will help expanding the operational and disruptive possibilities of these technologies.
In the summer semester 2019 and winter semester 2019/20, students of the Design Department had the opportunity to complete their term project as lab residency in the digital workshop.
The aim of this results-based project work was getting to know the newly acquired robotic arm and to develop creative potentials.
The “Universal Robot UR5” is a relatively easy-to-operate and programmable arm, which was designed with a focus on low accessibility and use in in workshops.
The students acquired functional knowledge on how to use the robot, documented and structured their knowledge on a website and developed concepts for integrating the technology into the existing digital workshop and design teaching.
Within this process, in addition to small art+technology works, resources and methods have been developed. These were edited into an accessible getting started format for students and teachers with little or no prior knowledge.
