Design in Digital Contexts

Designing is a reflexive practice. Through aesthetic production, we as active designers take a position on the challenges of the future. By taking an analytical and critical look at the past and responsibly orientating our actions in the present, we create objects, products and scenarios that project a possible future into the present.

In the discipline Design in Digital Contexts , we test new digital design technologies and examine their potential impact in design and social contexts. We hack, we code, we use 3D printers and laser cutters and work with computer-controlled milling machines. At the same time, we develop methods to understand our own sensory perception and use it for product designs, artistic interventions and design experiments.

The examination of scientific-theoretical positions is of great importance in the design processes in the focus area. We encourage specific reference to design science, social theory and current debates in order to achieve the most profound and comprehensive quality of results possible.
