The CA&D affiliated institute is registered as a non-profit organisation.
with an independent legal status. It was founded in 1990 by university teaching staff with the aim of promoting the use of digital media at the university and of initiating and fostering cooperation links between commercial companies, societal institutions and the university.
Since the CA&D institute was set up, significant amounts of third-party funding have been secured for research and study projects. Activities in recent years have been concentrated on deepening and expanding contacts to commercial companies.
Framework agreements and commercial contracts are used to organise research projects in the following areas:
- Innovative, research-relevant concept and design studies
- Experimental testing of software products
- Conception, design and testing of interactive 3D scenarios
- Design of multimedia presentations
- Conceptual development and implementation of interactive learning media
- Corporate identity, screen and web design
- Conceptual development and implementation of interactive learning media
