Einladung zur Partizipation an einem performativen Format kollektiver Intelligenz und stimmlicher Klanggestaltung
Lin Chi-Wei is a transdisciplinary artist who combines academic training with experience in Taiwan's countercultural scene. He was a founding member of the noise band Z.S.L.O. and was responsible for programming various alternative art festivals. Lin has explored the realms of religious art, particularly temple sculpture and Taoist rituals. Drawing on his experience with noise music and extensive fieldwork in folk rituals, he gradually developed a critical perspective on contemporary art.
Since 2004, Lin has been developing the Tape Music series, also known as IDCM, which emulates the mechanism of magnetic tapes, using human participants who are invited to coordinate their voices with others—without knowing the rules of the game. In this fascinating project, which has spanned over 20 years, the artist has taken his tapes to communities around the world, highlighting culturally inflected forms of collective intelligence in these ephemeral gatherings.
Lin’s artworks have been exhibited at various biennales and museums, including Tate Modern, the Centre Pompidou, and PSA Shanghai, as well as in non-art spaces such as local community projects, private residences, public schools, factories, churches, temples, bars, and live venues across different countries. He currently lives and works in Paris.
At the Burg, he will offer several Modules for voluntary participants, including Talking Knots.
